The Addictive Blog Award

Dear readers,

Clanmother has been nominated for the celebrated The Addictive Blog Award by Maarit-Johanna and her addictive blog, History of the Ancient World.  I am honoured to accept the nomination because, in my view, our blogging community is about being “addicted” to bringing our world together.  We may be separated by oceans, continents and mountains, but in “blogging” miles, the distance is small, even irrelevant.  Conversely, our world of thought and connection is ever-increasing.  Henry David Thoreau understood this concept years before the advent of our amazing technology:

“Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious as to have friends at a distance; they make the latitudes and longitudes.”

The term, Addictive, speaks to the likelihood of causing someone to become addicted to it.  History of the Ancient World has caused me to become addicted to this blog.  Every post is carefully researched, beautifully written and carefully designed to encourage dialogue and spark curiosity.  I am delighted to be recognized by Maarit-Johanna as having those same attributes. I look forward to our continued journey – there is much to explore: from the past, present and even the unknown future.

The best part about receiving a nomination is that I am able to recognize amazing people who create amazing blogs.   Over the past months since taking those first steps into the blogging world, I have been inspired and challenged by the wealth of knowledge and wisdom created within the blogger community.  I echo Maarit-Johanna’s words – I am addicted to blogging.  And here are 10 bloggers that continue to feed my addition.

    1. My decision to start blogging was a slow process that began about 4 years ago. What I’ve learned in the last few months: blogging is more about listening to others. There are so many stories out there that can augment our personal experience. We are participating in a global conversation. Now, that IS addictive!!!

  4. Thank you so much for this post.
I am new to blogging and it is bringing so much more than I expected into my life, not least belonging to this wonderful community of kindred souls.
I could be said to have an addictive personality, not good, but in this case when I read the title of this post, “Addictive Blogging” you had me hooked!

Thanks, not least, for the lovely list of inspirational blogs which I shall now check out. Finding your way around this blogosphere is very daunting to begin with, but I am beginning to discover the lovely pathways that bring us to each other.

May we all be peaceful and at ease.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on blogging. I am fairly new to the blogosphere but I had been thinking about it for a couple of years before I took a deep breath and pressed my first “publish” button. I agree – we are in an amazing global conversation made possible by technology. We are writing our stories and adding to the history of generation in ways never before conceived….it is good to find kindred spirits along the way….
