Great Spirits

A couple of days ago Google+ sent me the top three posts for the week.

Post # 1: The Dalai Lama came in with 243 comments and 395 shares. “As we look around us at the buildings we live and work in, the roads we travel, the clothes we wear, or the food we eat, we have to acknowledge that all are provided by others.”

Post # 2: Albert Einstein had 41 comments and 129 shares. “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Post # 3: Lady Gaga had 370 comments and 71 shares. #HappyBirthdayMarilyn. They’ll never take our blonde hair and lipstick.

Even though they come from different places and different times, these three share a common denominator: they are not mediocre. They dare to think differently; and they encourage others to do the same. From the responses and shares, it seems people are listening.

It is easy, even comfortably self-righteous, to wallow in mediocrity.  Today, let’s decide to be great spirits.
