Stars Change the World

Blog of the Year Award banner 600

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer.  Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Harriet Tubman, African-American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the American Civil War.

We are nearing the end of a remarkable year – 2012 – and are in the month that commemorates the giving spirit.   It is a time of thanks and celebration.Thank you to the blogging community for your generous support and thoughtful consideration.  With every post and every comment, I identified a unifying spirit that prevailed within our midst.  We seek to be a positive force for good in our world.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have received several nominations for the prestigious Blog of the Year 2012.  I am truly honoured and delighted to accept, especially since these nominating bloggers are on the fast-track to building legendary brands.  They each have spent incalculable amounts of time and effort to produce extraordinary blogs with creative and thought-provoking content.  Best of all, they know how to inspire and build a community.  These bloggers are motivated, focused and determined to succeed.  I applaud their endeavours, and marvel at their tenacity.

My thanks go to my friend, Crazy Train to Tinky Town for my First Star nomination.

Crazy Train to Tinky Town is about packing your bags for what promises to be the adventure of a lifetime.  I encourage everyone to tag along.  One day, her story will be made into a movie.

My thanks go to my friend, SageDoyle for my Second Star nomination.Blog of the Year Award 2 star jpeg

SageDoyle is a poet and a writer of contemporary fiction. Highlights include his Saturday posts on “Fay”, his “Romantic Monday” poetry, and “The Journal of Wall Grimm.”  He feeds the soul – I always leave refreshed.

Blog of the Year Award 3 star jpegMy thanks go to my friend, Maxima for my Third Star nomination.

Stefan is a renaissance man. His talents and gifts are many and varied.  He is a writer, poet, literary critic, journalist, musician, photographer and videographer.   His pen flows with brilliant colours.

Blog of the Year 4 star jpegMy thanks go to my friend, The World of Alexander the Great, for my Fourth Star nomination.

Maarit-Johanna is a scholar, philosopher, writer, and historian.  Her ability to distil complex ideas into clear and understandable terms continues to astound me.  Above all, she is a brilliant educator.

Blog of the Year Award 5 star jpegMy thanks go to my friend, Another Day In Paradise, for my Fifth Star nomination.

Another Day In Paradise is a remarkable travel blog that allows me to live vicariously in the most beautiful locations in the world.  You never know where you will be – South Africa or Florida – until you drop by for a visit.  One visit is never enough – you’ll be back for more sunshine.

Blog of the Year Award 6 star thumbnailMy thanks go to my friend, Simple.Interesting, for my Sixth Star nomination.

Cristi searches the world for music, reflections, photography, and video and brings it together in a multi-disciplinary blog.  His posts are full of timely and relevant information.  His new Facebook page adds to the depth and breadth of his influence.

There are two other fellow bloggers that honoured me with this nomination.   Their blogs add to the brightness of the blogosphere heavens.  They are the stars!!!

Seyi Sandra David is a prolific writer from birth, who is not afraid to tackle the difficult discussions.  Smart, savvy and totally engaged with life, Seyi Sandra David motivates her readers to pursue their goals with passion.

Carolyn at ABC of Spirit Talk brings harmony and balance to our world. She embraces life with passion and elegance, joy and hope, kindness and forgiveness.  When she is not blogging, she graces ballrooms with her love of dance, music and movement.

One last thought on awards before going to the rules.

In my travels throughout the blogging community, I have concluded that the posts that draw the most “likes” and comments are the “Award” posts.  After these posts, there appears to be a “bump” in followers.  My conclusion is that awards build our communities and circles of influence through introductions.  What better way to form new friendships.

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1. Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3. Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/   and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4. Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5. You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

There are many blogs that have become my “stars.”  I look forward to our ongoing journey…

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau

  1. Thanks so much for the nomination, Clanmother, and congratulations to you. Now I have a whole galaxy of stars, but six is the maximum that will fit onto the badge. :)

  2. Congratulations and Well Done…!
What a lovely post, Rebecca.. :)
Thank You so much for awarding me a star… I am very, very appreciative.. xoxoxo
Thank You for your wonderful words; not only for me, but for all who have been included in this wonderful post. Your generosity of spirit is visible for all to see.

  3. What a wonderful post Rebecca! What deserved recognition of your blog and sincerest thank you for the nomination! It means a lot as I respect you and your work.

    • And thank you for your wonderful support and encouragement over the past year!!! What an adventure it has been and it will only get better as we go along!!!

  4. Clanmother, congratulations with your awards!

Thank you so much for nominating me!

I will definitely post about it, though not immediately :)

All the best for you and all of your blogs!

I am really happy that I got to know you in cyberspace :)

  5. Congratulations Rebecca. You truly do deserve the full card of six stars as an outstanding blogger for the year of 2012. Your post today is excellent as are your nominations. Well done, it is a pleasure and a honor to know you my friend and blogging compadre, as we continue our life’s journey exploring and sharing our love of people and life through the blogging community!

    • Thank you! Thank you! We truly have a remarkable community that understands that words, actions and thoughts have great influence. I have always believed in the power of “one.” But it is when we join forces that real and sustainable change happens. I am very grateful that we connected and that we are travelling together. Your words reminded me of a quote by Helen Keller: “It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal.”

  6. Congratulations on all of the nominations for the Blog of the Year. That just shows how much people appreciate the positive energy that YOU bring to the WP blogging universe. I appreciate it, and your kind nomination, as well.

    • Thank you so much!! And thank you for your nomination – it means a great deal to me. I remember the first time that I visited your blogs! I knew that I would always come back…

  7. Congratulations and really great acceptance speech, but then again I have come to expect that from you. Thank you for your nomination and now I am going to settle down with a cup of tea to read all your other nominations

    • What kind of tea? It seems we share another love in common. This morning I have a cup of steaming Chai next to me. Thank you so much for your nomination! I really do believe that your story must, must, must continue to be written….

    • You have a remarkable story. I wanted you to know that you have been an inspiration throughout my first year of blogging. Thank you so much for your comments – so much appreciated.

  8. Excellent! Congrats for the success! Thank you for liking my post too! I’ll also use the opportunity to post a suggestion of mine, hope you’ll like it too: joining sites like zazzle.com, cafepress. com, fiverr? They could be a good way to promote your works/blog, etc and to help “remove” stupidity in the streets like headlines on t-shirts, fridge-magnets, cups, etc: My Boyfriend kisses Better Than Yours, FBI – female body inspector, etc. Not everything we see and think of should be about sex, right? It would be much better if there were more nice pictures of mythical creatures, good thoughts, poems from fantasy genre, etc? I’m allanbard there, I use some of my illustrations, thoughts, poems from my books (like: One can fight money only with money, Even in the hottest fire there’s a bit of water, The thinnest thing in the world is the border between god and evil, or
Let’s watch the moon, let’s meet the sun!
Let’s hear soon the way the Deed was done!
Let’s listen to the music the shiny crystals played,
let’s welcome crowds of creatures good and great…
etc). I guess such lines are much better than the usual we see every day? Best wishes! Keep up the good work! Let the wonderful noise of the sea always sounds in your ears! (a greeting of the water dragons’ hunters – my Tale Of The Rock Pieces).

    • Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing you wisdom. I especially like “Let’s listen to the music..” You reminded me of my favourite Ludwig van Beethoven quote: “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.”

      • Nice quote, indeed! I didn’t know Ludwig Beethoven said it, thank you for sharing! Will be glad to share some thoughts, experiences too in the future! Best wishes! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :)

      • Thank you!!! I am looking forward to our ongoing dialogue! Your visits and comments are so very much appreciated! All the very best of the season to you and yours!! And then we are off to 2013 – another year of blogging adventures.

  9. Congratulations on your award and for passing it on. Of these, I’m a regular at Paradise’s blog. Meanwhile, thanks for the list that would keep anyone busy for at least a day! Hope all is well in Vancouver!

  10. Thank you so much Rebecca! You are definitely one of my stars! And I am looking forward to our journey in 2013! You have been such a blessing to me these past months! Thank you!

  11. Please accept my thanks for nominating me. And congratulations to you on another well-deserved award.

Things have finally slowed down some this month, so I should be able to pass this award along sometime soon. Thanks again.

    • Thank you so much for your comments – much appreciated. No rush on the post. I just wanted to thank you! You are the consummate story teller! Every time I stop by your blog, I recall the quote by Anaïs Nin: “Stories are the only enchantment possible, for when we begin to see our suffering as a story, we are saved.”

  13. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor, Rebecca. And thank you so much for your nomination and my first gold star in a really long time. :) Blogging is pretty new for me (as you know) and I don’t know much about the awards but I am beyond honored by your nomination and that you consider my blog an inspiration as you are a phenomenal blogger, gifted writer and such an inspiration to me. I love writing it and would do so even if no one was reading but it is so nice to know that there are others on this journey with me. Connecting with you has been such a blessing to me. Thanks again sweet lady. I look forward to taking a look at the other blogs you have nominated.

    • You may be new to blogging – but you have created a amazing place that welcomes all to the “table.” I wanted you to know how special you have become to my blogging “life.” And don’t feel obligated to post anything until you feel it is the right time, if ever. I wanted to introduce your blog to others in the community.

  14. Thank you again ;) I appreciate that, and I must say it was awesome that you took the time to individualize the folks who awarded you. I’m always impressed when bloggers go to that extent to give such an informative and complimentary bio of sorts for the awarders or the awardees. It’s a lot of extra work to put that time in and so I appreciate that, and admire your dedication to your fellow bloggers!

    • The best part of the award process is getting to know the people who nominated you. And then the very, very best part is to nominate others. Thank you again!!

  15. It is a great honour, to be nominated for ‘the blog of the year award’ for the fifth time and I deeply appreciate you, God bless you… And I’ve got a big smile on my face, meeting great people like you is what makes blogging fun and satisfying. Thank you ma’am.

  16. Congratulations on completing the stars. And to be nominated by Adin truly is an honor… and a clear sign that I should have followed your blog a long time ago. :D Congrats. More Power and Have Fun blogging.

    • So glad that you stopped by!! I have been following your blog and enjoying your view of the world. And we have a whole new year ahead of us – there is always an adventure. I have sturdy walking shows and my bags are always packed.

  17. Congratulations Clanmother your name is so appropriate. You are one of the most encouraging and positive people. Thank you so much for the award when I see your comments they always make me happy. Your post is lovely and I look forward to our journey in the following year who know where life is going to take us we just have to enjoy the ride. :)

    • We are on a grand adventure like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, the dynamic duo. :D Eleanor Roosevelt says it even better: “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

  20. Congratulations 8 times over for your stars!!! You certainly are most deserving of them :)
Many thanks for nominating my blog and I am honoured to accept your recommendation.
I have been busy with concerts lately but will have some time now to devote to meeting the conditions for accepting the award. Thanks again, you’re a great inspiration!

    All the best and congratulations!
    Przemek aka artdone

    • Dear Przemek – you have added so much to my awareness of art. You generously share your knowledge and experience so that your readers can fully appreciate what they are viewing. Many of us hesitate to join in the dialogue because we feel inadequate and somewhat ashamed over our lack of understanding. Thank you for creating an extraordinary blog – I look forward to every post with great anticipation….

    • I am delighted to accept your invitation the dinner party!! I know that there will be great food, dramatic storytelling and the best of fellowship. Thank you for your kind invitation and the warm welcome.
